Our vision is to enable our communities' sustainable energy future.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Technical Writer who can turn complex, technical information into clear, fit‑for‑purpose documents that keep our people and contractors aligned with Unison's management systems and industry standards. You will partner with subject matter experts across the business to create, maintain and continuously improve our controlled documents. This role is critical for managing risk by capturing and curating critical knowledge that can be easily accessed.

With our component content management system (CCMS) and DITA‑based (Darwin Information Typing Architecture) structured authoring, this role focuses on crafting reusable content components so we can publish consistently across multiple channels and formats, now and in the future.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Curate and maintain controlled content that meets management system requirements (e.g. ISO 55001 Asset Management System, ISO 9001 Quality Management System) ensuring clear governance, version control and regular review.
  • Partner with subject matter experts across Unison Networks Limited, Unison Contracting Services Limited and Centralines Limited to develop accurate, user‑centred documentation that's easy to find and use.
  • Use structured authoring (DITA XML) and our CCMS to enable robust content reuse and scalable multi‑output publishing.
  • Manage a sizable document portfolio, maintaining high standards of accuracy and consistency.
  • Ensure content is accessible, machine‑readable and future‑ready by working in XML and applying agreed standards.
  • Design and apply metadata and taxonomy strategies ensuring content tagging is accurately maintained to support efficient search, retrieval and reuse.
  • Champion continual improvement in how documentation is created, delivered and used; gather feedback and act on it.
  • Role‑model Unison's values of Safety & Wellbeing, Excellence, Customer Service, Integrity and Teamwork.

What You'll Bring:

Essential skills and experience

  • Proven technical writing capability—clear, concise, and tailored to end‑users.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration across cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication to elicit and translate complex technical knowledge.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all content.

Desirable skills and experience

  • Structured authoring best practices for content reuse, version control and multi‑channel publishing.
  • XML authoring—familiarity with DITA XML or similar.
  • Authoring and managing content within a CCMS, following defined workflows and governance.
