Senior Civil Machine Operator

Unison Contracting Services Limited is the contracting arm of Unison, one of New Zealand's largest electricity distribution businesses. Across Hawke's Bay, Taupo, Rotorua, Tauranga and Dunedin we have a staff of qualified professionals who are skilled in the following areas:

  • design work
  • project management
  • asset recording
  • cable location
  • power line audits, and power line upgrades
  • tree trimming and removal
  • directional drilling
  • trenching
  • traffic management

The purpose of this role is to provide to the Civil Construction business unit with:

  • Skilled labouring;
  • Heavy vehicle and plant operation

The Senior Civil Machine Operator is responsible for:

Machine Operator Duties:

  • General Labouring
  • Undertake general labouring or machine operation duties to the wider Unison Contracting Services Management Unit as required.
  • Driving of vehicles, as appropriate to licences held.
  • Handling of plant, as appropriate to licences and/or unit standards held.
  • Supervision of small teams and/or sites, as required.
  • 2 - 5 years in general civil work methodologies.
  • Experience in the operation of heavy vehicles and excavators.
Quantifiable experience in the operation of civil plant
  • Current Full Class 2 Drivers' Licence
W,T,R endorsements
  • Able to work 40 hours per week - some shift work and weekend work, as required.
On-call/standby from time to time, as required.
