Technical Field Leader

We're currently looking for a Technical Field Leader to join our Tauranga team.

This is a permanent full-time role with guaranteed fortnightly pay in a stable and supportive organisation.

Tasks include:

  • Leading, mentoring and developing a team of Technicians, Fitters and Cable Jointers
  • Allocating staff, plant and equipment, and making sure work is planned, scheduled and visible to crews
  • Driving utilisation and efficiency, reporting on levels and outcomes
  • Getting hands-on with projects, pre-site walkovers, substation work, network protection and workshop construction
  • Completing worksite observations and ensuring best practice in all aspects of project delivery
  • Engaging in post-project reviews and closeouts, providing feedback for continuous improvement and innovation
  • Championing health & safety, compliance and quality standards
  • Building strong relationships across teams, contractors, consultants and the community

To be successful in this position you need:

  • An appropriate qualification in Engineering, Communication or Electrical trade (Current Electrical Practising Licence preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in power system construction
  • 2-5 years' leadership experience, with proven ability to lead, mentor and manage people
  • Sound knowledge of relevant acts, regulations and codes of practice
  • Strong communication, organisational and planning skills
  • A positive, self-starting attitude and commitment to Unison's values
  • Ability to use common IT applications independently
