Are you ready to step into a role where your decisions keep the lights on and communities connected? Join Unison's Network Operations Centre in Hastings as a Distribution Network Controller and be part of a team that ensures the safe, reliable delivery of electricity—every hour of the day.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Hastings-based team as a Distribution Network Controller. This is a full-time, permanent position, working on a 24/7 shift roster.

The Distribution Network Controller is responsible for the real time operation of Unison's HV and LV electrical system (on a 24/7 shift basis).

This involves the day-to-day application of Unison's network operating policies and procedures and the coordination of field services in response to network outages, incidents and major emergencies. Key responsibilities include network safety, protection of plant, network reliability, maintenance of records and communication.

In this role, you will be part of a team that values clear communication, safety and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and managing Unison's high and low voltage electricity network in real time
  • Coordinating responses to outages, faults, and emergencies
  • Managing planned and unplanned switching operations
  • Using smart grid technologies to optimise performance and reduce downtime
  • Communicating with field teams, contractors, and customers to keep everyone informed and safe

What We Are Looking For:

  • You will hold a Level 4 National Certificate and have a minimum of 3 years electrical industry experience or equivalent
  • Strong computer literacy, including with MS Office Suite, and attention to detail
  • A calm, safety-first approach under pressure
  • A commitment to continuous learning and operational excellence
