Field Services Team Leader

Unison Contracting Services is the contracting arm of Unison, one of New Zealand's largest electricity distribution businesses. Across Hawkes Bay, Taupo, Rotorua and Dunedin, we have a staff of qualified professionals who are skilled in the following areas:

  • power line audits, and power line upgrades
  • tree trimming and removal
  • fibre optic installation
  • directional drilling

We are looking for a Field Services Team Leader to lead our team of Lines Field Leaders. You will be responsible for assisting in their training, supervision and development to ensure the rest of the Field staff complete their allocated works in a safe and efficient (time, cost and quality) manner.

Main Responsibilities


  • Lead designated staff to provide a safe and efficient service for all field work in accordance with Unison requirements.
  • Work closely with the Service Delivery Team to ensure work is scheduled, planned and allocated to your designated staff.
  • Actively ensure that best practice HSE practices (regulatory, industry and company) are being adhered to.

Scheduling and Coordination

  • Review and monitor internal processes to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and report on project progress against the schedule of works.
  • Negotiate with external customers to ensure their requirements are met and their projects are completed within the set timeframes and budget.
  • Submit business reports, as required to the Operations Manager together with recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Track and control the cost centre budget for the team.

What is required

To be successful in this position, you will have a passion for the Electrical Industry and hold an Electrical or Engineering Trade.

3-5 years' experience of leading successful teams is required, as is the ability to influence and liaise with people at all levels.
